  • "Pearson Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been amazing! Not only do the classes and trainers approach each participant in a structured and inclusive way, but I am always impressed with class and walking out knowing I learned something new! Definitely worth 5 stars!"

  • "Highly recommend Pearson BJJ. When we moved into Northfield 3 years ago, it was our first connection to the community. There were only 5 of us then and it’s been awesome to see what Alex has grown it into today. He is passionate for the sport and is caring and attentive to each student. All ages can benefit from being part of the jiu jitsu community Alex has created here in Northfield."

  • "Alex possesses all the virtues of a great teacher. He’s very knowledgeable, humble and extraordinarily patient with students of all ages and ability levels. I’ve trained in a few BJJ gyms, and Pearson BJJ was by far where I learned the most and always felt comfortable. The environment is incredibly supportive and even the most strenuous sessions are enjoyable. Strongly recommend for those looking to start or continue their training!"

  • "Alex is one of the best instructors I’ve trained under. His attention to detail in technique and genuine interest in each individual’s progression is unmatched. Also, you’re going to get way more individual attention here than the larger national chains. I would recommend checking this gym out if you’re an adult looking for a fun activity or getting kids into a structured program. You can’t go wrong here."

  • "I trained with Coach Alex for about 3 years while studying at Carleton College. I am so grateful for meeting Alex; I don’t know if I would’ve stuck with jiu-jitsu had I not found such a devoted, passionate, and friendly instructor. Alex fosters an open and challenging environment where everyone is able to push one another without animosity. When I met Alex I was looking for a jiu-jitsu instructor but I found so much more in Alex and the Pearson BJJ environment. I often found myself staying after classes simply to chat with other members or work out certain moves. Overall, Northfield is blessed to have an individual such as Alex and I will stop by for a training session anytime I am in the area. Oss!"

  • "Joining Pearson Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been an absolute wonderful experience for my 6, now 7 year old son. Alex takes an incredibly skillful, patient, and positive approach to his teaching, while challenging everyone (at all different skill levels) to learn and push themselves to do their best. My son went from being almost too shy/anxious to give it a try, to now talking about getting his black belt and making it a lifelong activity, all thanks to Alex. He and the entire Pearson BJJ crew have been kind, welcoming, and accepting of my son and every other person I've seen walk onto the mats. Pearson BJJ has my highest recommendation and I would highly encourage anyone and everyone to give it a try!"

  • "Pearson Bjj has been one of the best experiences of my life. Coach Alex Pearson does a wonderful job of providing a challenging and accepting enviornment for everyone that walks in. I trained here for 2 years. In that time made many friends on the mats, his coaching led me to win two bjj tournaments, and receive a belt promotion. Classes range from basics and drilling to competitive sparring sessions. Alex (the head coach) is also always willing to break down techniques and work 1 on 1 to better your understanding. Furthermore he fosters a great environment where we all would give it our all but not become angry with one another. If you want a great workout, people to push you, and effective combat training this is a wonderful place. Class times also vary to try and accommodate people different schedules. Highly recommend checking it out!"

  • "Pearson BJJ is a great option for folks in southeast Minnesota. Alex offers a flexible schedule of classes, including morning and evening options. For me the 'early riser' 6 am M/W/F class has been a godsend, allowing me to get my training in before my workday. Alex knows his craft, teaches it well and, as an added benefit, draws on his wrestling background when appropriate. Overall I can't ask for more as far as a regular place to train BJJ."
